Back to School Cowl Kit

This design is a companion to the Back to School Hat—and it came about completely by accident. While working on my first Fair Isle project a few years ago, everything looked perfect on paper. But once I started knitting the sample, thanks to some unfortunate color choices, it ended up looking like pencils. Instead of scrapping the design, I leaned into the mistake and turned it into actual pencils!

The Back to School Cowl is perfect for the teacher, school board member, principal, superintendent, or student in your life. It's a fun, quick knit. A friend even suggested using a crazy multi-colored yarn instead of goldenrod to mimic those plastic-coated pencils that break pencil sharpeners (and drive teachers crazy).
